How fitting to meet Thom Filicia in a bathtub. I started loving him right off the bat in his Queer Eye for the Straight Guy days when he and the crew would take a leisurely and comedic stroll through their soon-to-be-metrosexual's apartment while giggling, tearing about closets, and crawling into chairs—or tubs. Turns out the man is just like his TV personality—funny, lovable, and full of surprises, such as lounging in an acoustic chromatherapy bath, sipping Champagne, saying, "It's just another romantic evening at Kohler!"
During his first visit to Minneapolis he stopped by Kohler to promote his new book American Beauty. I'm anxious to dive into what looks like the ultimate blueprint for plotting out that magical retreat, be it a lake cabin or pied-a-terre. While signing books he must have spent a few minutes with each person, hugging, laughing, and chatting. In town, Thom says he loved Manny's where the burger was as big as a table, the Weisman Art Museum, and the snow, even if it meant he couldn't wear his green suede shoes as much as he wanted. He also learned how to properly say "Edina" while co-hosting Twin Cities Live.
Besides the book, Thom is busy with TV appearances, design collaborations (stay tuned!), and of course, interior design from his own getaway featured in the book to being slated to create new outdoor airport terraces in Atlanta and New York for Delta Sky Club. He's got a lot going on around the globe, but we'd like to think of him best just chilling in a bathtub in Edeena.
