2014 ASID MN Showcase Home Girls Bathroom
From its canopy beds to its soft blue walls, guests were enchanted by the playful, yet polished bedroom for twin sisters. Designers Kathy Connolly, Elsa Dean, Christine Happel, and Katie Mallory drew inspiration from a chandelier that the girls’ mom had purchased in pieces from an antique shop. “It was truly one-of-a-kind with its diverse assortment of crystals, bright pops of color, and whimsical character. We had fun bringing it back to life,” Dean says.
After learning the girls’ wish lists (canopy beds!) and favorite colors (one enjoys green, while the other prefers pink), designers selected Ethan Allen fabrics for each girl’s bed and bench, and created unity with diamond patterns and white coverlets and shams. The challenge of accommodating two canopy beds in a smaller room was addressed with sheer bed curtains, mirror-front chests, and a light color palette that makes a visual connection to their view of the pool area.
The team’s favorite part? Knowing their young clients are pleased. “It was very important to us have the girls love it! And they did.”
