Bathroom by John Kraemer & Sons
A Medina family’s two-level master suite addition has brought their love of the outdoors in. “Avid hunters and outdoorspeople, the owners wanted the look and feeling of rustic elegance in their new spaces,” says John Kraemer, vice president and director of sales and marketing at builder and remodeler John Kraemer & Sons in Edina.
The design aesthetic is reflected in reclaimed barn timber beams and millwork and particularly in the owners’ unique indoor-outdoor bath. A glass door and floor-to-ceiling windows separate a bronze soaking tub from an outdoor shower, which is accessible from both the outdoors and the master bath and ideal for soaking up Minnesota’s warm and sunny days. The shower water channels below cedar planks and through four feet of rock into a drain tile system that moves it out through the home’s retaining walls.
Kraemer says he is proud of how the clients, designers, architects, and builders worked together to add to the home, while keeping consistent with existing style elements: “It was a unique design that came together very nicely and a true team effort.”
