I had a photo shoot in the Kingfield neighborhood this morning and while driving along Grand Avenue I noticed a bunch of cool vintage pieces out on a sidewalk. The last time I'd seen furniture there was years ago when Meli Melo was in that storefront of 41st & Grand! (For those who don't recall, it was a French vintage store where I happened to score a $40 chair that was pushed to the sidewalk, only to turn quite Parisian again once reupholstered in a golden satin damask.) This time it's an occasional store called Your Lucky Day. Owners Joanne Heider and Kristi Pohl decorate it differently each month, usually with a theme. This month—meaning this weekend—it's all about books. Next month, Aug. 29-Sept. 1, it's all about Julia Child, be still my heart! Aside from lots of books and kidsstuff, there's a mid-century nook with furniture and artwork, lots of glassware, vintage croquet and stadium seating. And every shopper gets a "Lucky Day" fortune cookie. Open July 25-28, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Your Lucky Day, 4159 Grand Ave. S., Mpls.., yourluckyday.biz
