They’re the most popular brothers in the remodeling business. Drew is the real estate agent, scouting fixer-upper houses. Jonathan is the licensed contractor who renovates homes within the allotted budget. Their combined expertise takes troubled residential structures and transforms them into the dream homes of homeowners inexperienced in renovations.
Catch Drew and Jonathan Scott on the Main Stage, Saturday, March 5, at 1 pm, with a meet-and-greet at 2 pm.
They’re the real deal, too. These former child actors bought their first house at age 17 and flipped it for a $50,000 profit. Now, with eight seasons of Property Brothers under their belt and a variety of spin-off special episodes and shows, the Scott brothers will bring expertise and star quality to this year’s Home + Garden Show. Though they hail from nearby Canada, they’ve never been to Minnesota. Certainly it will be a warm and familial welcome for these twins here in the Twin Cities.
Scott Brothers Renovation Primer
The bros will bring their expertise to the Show, but here are a few tips to dream on before they come.
• Organization is key. Plan everything in advance. Look for deals on all materials and fixtures well before you need them. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the retail price when it comes time to install those items.
• Master bedroom first? We should all have a wonderful, relaxing oasis to kick back in at the end of the day. Put in that soaker tub, a fireplace in the master, or even a massive walk-in closet to admire your shoe collection, you deserve it!
• Start with the areas that will make your life easier. Work on the kitchen if you like to entertain. Upgrade the basement bathroom if you need more space for the kids. Think: What renovation would have the biggest impact on your day-to-day?
• Use a professional anytime you’re doing a project that involves major electrical, plumbing, or structural work. These are areas where one mistake could cost thousands or, worse yet, put your life in danger.
