I've long been a fan of Bob and Cortney Novogratz, who live in New York City with their seven kids and collaborate on eclectic design projects around the world. I had the opportunity to interview them twice, once for Delta Sky magazine on how to travel with that many kids and another time to feature their country home in Massachusetts. I love their style, especially how they blend vintage with modern, while using tons of color, unique art, and quirky light installations. Plus, they keep it real, from their down-to-earth attitude to their high-low approach to design.
Their recent partnership with CB2 seems to be a perfect fit and I'm so glad they've produced their FAMILY rug ($399-$799), which was made famous on their HGTV show, Home by Novogratz, for the masses. It's offered in both multi-color and black and white which is available at CB2 Uptown. Here's what they had to share on their new designs.
"Our line with CB2 is really centered around family, something that obviously means a lot to both of us," says Bob Novogratz. "Everything from the rugs to the dining table was inspired by family, whether you're just starting a family of your own, or you have a close group of friends you call family, the pieces we designed are meant to bring people together and celebrate whatever it is you call your family."
Adds Cortney: "Everything that we designed with CB2 has versatility in mind. In our own home, our dining table serves as our office desk, a conference table, a place for our kids to play at and do their homework, and of course a place to gather as a family for dinner at the end of each day. Multifunctional was what we had in mind with all of our pieces, for example we included drawers in the design of our dining table, and our chairs are meant to be used at a dining table, as a side chair in a living room, or even as a single chair in a bedroom."
