by Livy Traczyk As all savvy business owners know, maintaining a strong client base requires being abreast of the current trends. Luna Murals, a 20-year-old, innovative family-run business in the metro area, thinks the trendiest fad in home interiors is faux finishes. We talked with Luna Murals founder, Christine Adams Carter, about newest installments of home muraling.
Metallic Damask Accent Walls. We weren't surprised to hear that Damask and Chevron are the two most popular patterns on Luna Mural's hit list. But, the metallic finish they add to the ever-trendy styles gives it a creative twist. One of the coolest features of Luna Murals is the hand-cut stencils they create from pre-exisiting patterns on fabric a client likes. Carter said, "We find really cool vintage things that we can pull out to make our stencils so we can put just a couple of them on a wall without it looking like it's the same store bought stencil everyone has."
Small Commitments, Huge Reward.
Another major faux finish trend is making smaller commitments with bolder choices. Carter talked about adding "something fun to the classics" by painting a mural on one part of the room, which makes it easy to change or paint over later.
We could ramble on about the ways in which this two-person creative team pulls off three-dimensional murals in a matter of days, or how they research the ins-and-outs of each project to deliver the most accurate representation of the mural they've been commissioned to paint, like this Paris bakery, but that would take all the fun out of seeing their vast portfolio for yourself! lunamurals.com
