In a sign of spring and other good things, lawn signs for local remodelers are popping up like brightly-colored crocuses all over the Twin Cities. While the last few years have been a time of wait-and-see for many local homeowners, there’s a groundswell of energy and enthusiasm among people who are ready and willing to invest in their homes and neighborhoods.
“The economy may still be challenging, but the Twin Cities is one of the top three areas of remodeling activity in the country,” says Sandra Meyer, executive director of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, Minnesota Chapter. “This is an incredible market,” she says. “People are pragmatic and practical, and they tend to be good savers. They also take great pride in their living environments and understand the importance of maintaining the value of their homes.”
Historically, kitchens and bathrooms have provided the greatest return on investment in terms of resale and property values. But, the best rationale for remodeling is ultimately personal. Because kitchens and bathrooms tend to be the most-used rooms in the house, any investment in these spaces will provide immeasurable dividends in terms of comfort, efficiency, and day-to-day satisfaction.
