2015 Outstanding Nurses Awards Finalists
Mpls.St.Paul Magazine is proud to announce the 2015 finalists for the Outstanding Nurses Awards.
This year marks the fourth year of Outstanding Nurses Awards, and the largest to date. Twenty percent more nurses are finalists this year than last year, and in several new categories, including Mental Health, Public Health and Activism, and Military Service. This year’s finalists include more dual-category finalists than in previous years, and more finalists in the category of Lifetime Achievement. In a few cases, our expert judges moved nurse finalists to categories they were not originally nominated in. The result is the large, diverse, and truly outstanding pool of professionals below.
Many thanks to this year’s expert judges: Mandy Seymour (University of Minnesota Health), Laurel Edinburgh (Children’s Hospitals and Clinics), and Rozina Bhimani (St. Catherine University, Northpoint Health and Wellness Center). Their commitment and integrity as they completed the task of selecting these finalists and winners was inspiring.
Nominations were read and assessed by Senior Editor, Stephanie Wilbur Ash and three nurse judges with a combined 60 years of experience. Nominations were assessed on a seven-point rubric that included: professionalism, bedside manner, patient interaction, credentials and experience, impact on an organization, leadership, and an "it" factor exemplifying kindness, compassion, and empathy. Additional weight was given to those who received multiple nominations from a variety of sources, and to those nominated by their patients.
Winners in all categories will be announced at a special awards ceremony on the evening of July 14, at the Muse Event Center in Minneapolis. All finalists receive a complimentary ticket.
