This is what we call a solid workout.
When Core Valley opened in Eagan’s Central Park in June, it was the first fitness program of its kind in the state—a series of uneven logs and stumps made into an obstacle course. Don’t know where to start? All ages are invited to play on it, and personal trainers are available to walk you through. Cost: Free for solo workouts, $50 for a guided workout with personal trainer
St. Paul Parks & Recreation staff saw three barriers to better health: cost, time, and personal attitude. In response, they created Express Fitness—a program dedicated to low-cost, drop-in group classes for all experience levels. Until the weather turns and sessions move indoors, get your Zumba and yoga on at parks in St. Paul. Cost: $3 a class
Just when you thought the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum couldn’t get more peaceful, meditation is thrown into the mix. Yoga in the Gardens combines incredible scenery and vinyasa flow for local yogis the first Thursday and second-to-last Sunday each month. Classes move indoors come mid-October/early November. Cost: Free with $12 gate admission
