The Lion, the Witch, and the War Hero; or Is McCain Able?

What with a couple of conventions and an election coming up, and all the bloviating these events inevitably entail, it may be time to head to that sanctuary of satirical sanity, the Brave New Workshop. The troupe’s latest production, The Lion, the Witch, and the War Hero skewers not only politicians, but voters, the media, and the political process itself. The truth may hurt, but laughter makes it sting a little less.

Dave Koz

Dave Koz is a Grammy-nominated jazz saxophone player from Los Angeles who once had a prestigious job as a member of the house band for Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak's short-lived late night talk show. But don’t hold that against him. His latest album is Memories of a Winter's Night.

Peter Frampton

The legendary British guitar rocker performs songs from his latest album Fingerprints as well as such classic rock songs as "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Baby I Love Your Way."

Bill Maher

Political comedian Bill Maher is the host of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher. He’s gained accolades and criticism for his policy against pulling punches, which may have lead to the demise of his late-night network show, Politically Incorrect. We’re guessing he’s going to go to town on the upcoming elections.

Hootie & The Blowfish

With a little love and some tenderness, Hootie and the Blowfish became one of the biggest bands in the mid-90s with songs like "Hold My Hand" and "Let Her Cry." And though lead singer Darius Rucker has been making a name for himself on the country charts, netting a Top 20 hit with "Don't Think I Don't Think About It," he still tours with the boys, who made their last album, Looking for Lucky, in 2005.

Peter and the Wolf

Mischa Santora and the Minnesota Orchestra are joined by Theatre de la Jeune Lune for this performance of Prokofiev’s beloved—if somewhat unsettling—children’s tale of Peter and his quest to catch a trickster wolf, with each animal in the story represented by a different popular instrument.
