>> Rainforest Cafe is BACK again at the Mall of America, creeping out your toddlers with spooky jerky monkeys and thunderstorms in a mall. Good times.
>> Upton 43 finally has their sassy liquor license, so Skol! Chef Erick Harcey also just officially launched the Chef's Table which is a communal table right in front of the line. For $125 you get a seat at the kitchen team's multi-course dinner party that includes all beverages and tip! I feel like this restaurant is finally, truly open (except for the roasty chicken part, come on with that.)
>> St. Genevieve is open for lunch now, you knew that right?
>> And Coup' dEtat has been closed since Monday due to a nasty water line break, but it will reopen tonight for your Uptown imbibing pleasure.
>> Edina's homey 38 year old neighborhood eatery, Eden Avenue Grill, will close at end of service this Sunday. But fear not, the spot will be renamed The Hilltop and given a freshy look from zshoosh-meisters Shea Design. The owners have hired a new chef and plan to modernize the menu, while keeping the same vibe. Booths will be added, the bar expanded to serve more craft beers, take-out will be upgraded, and we might bet on a bit of barnwood too.
>> Chatterbox Pub in Highland has closed, but the original South Minny and Linden Hills locations are still in the game.
>> Early this week, Parella shut it's doors in Calhoun Square after a short 7 month run.
>> Bonicelli Kitchen is back in the game! After raising a big hunka cash on Kickstarter, the home meal delivery and catering pro lost her original building. But now Laura Bonicelli has secured a new space on Central in NE, in what used to be an African eatery, across from Maya Cuisine. The new space is bigger and will allow for an indoor cafe/wine bar with dining for 40, plus an outdoor space for 20. Look for an early summer opening.
>> Sounds like the Nomad World Pub owners have purchased The Country Bar in Uptown and plan to reopen the spot very soon. Good news is that the Shorty & Wags wings will once again be on the menu.
>> Watch your cute pals from Copper Hen Cakery & Kitchen as they kick it on next Wednesday night's Restaurant Startup show on NBC. Will they charm the pants off of Joe Bastianich and get the funds to open a rooftop space? Watch and see! Go Chris and Danielle!
>> Hey there, St. Paul Winter Carnival! Lookin' goooooood this year! I know you'll be packing a flask and throwing some disc golf this weekend, but don't forget to hang in Rice Park with all the ice and food trucks and live music or perhaps at the Beer Dabbler out at the fair. Anyone find the puck yet? Also, other fun outdoor winter wonderland ballyhoo: The Art Sled Rally and the US Pond Hockey Championships this weekend.
>> Catch the #tourbuzz today when Bitter Minnesota loads up the bus with Indeed Brewing and their relaunched Mexican Honey Imperial Lager hitting five happy hours in town with giveaways, prizes, and a mariachi band.
>> I swear to capsacin, it's chili cook off season. You have this weekend to hone your recipe, before the double play next weekend: Feb 6/ Northern Clay Center's 8th Annual Chili Cook Off ... Feb 7/ Town Hall Brewery's Chili Cook Off. I say go big or go home.
>> You think you know craft beer? You don't know suds. Sign up for the MN Beer Bowl trivia event at Happy Gnome and test your knowledge of beer history, local breweries, beer styles and more while drinking and scoring prizes! This will be a beard heavy event.
>> Cook St. Paul is busting out some spicy foods tonight at their pop-up: Lola Rosa will be in the house cooking Filipino food like you've never known you wanted, until you eat it and can never go back to innocence. Sure you can go steamed buns of lumpia egg rolls, but isn't time to go Bao Chicken Bao Wow with marinated pulled chicken in adobo sauce with all the spicy goods?
