Banh Mi Sandwich
Don't let the seasonal blues get you down—orange cones and beeping vehicles can almost make you forget to take in the good stuff. Almost. If you happen to be stuck in your car pondering, think about improving your life through a fantasy sumo league, taking a detour for fresh banh mi, or maybe just grab an off-ramp and head north to a shiny new taproom. No one would blame you.
>> Town Talk Diner is open again, after shedding it's last skin as Le Town Talk. The new owners did a little quiet launch last weekend and have been steady eddy ever since. This time they've added Gastropub to the name and have returned the spot to a cleaner and simpler vibe with a daily menu. Small plates, bigger plates, shareables, you know the drill. I popped in and had some tasty ricotta gnocchi with sweet corn and a creamy poblano spaetzle. Stop expecting the cocktails of old, k?

>> Take the off ramp and head north to Bemidji Brewing's new taproom, now open, because it's a looker. Come on, you know the pine drenched air will smell better and the beer will be crisper, so go. And if you groove on a little afternoon wine while you're there, all the better. This weekend Foxglove Flowers will be on hand to make things pretty.
>> This Saturday and Sunday is the Dragon Festival on Lake Phalen. If you havn't seen the long boat races and the drumming demos, do that, but also find a way to blend into a tai chi practice and then, of course, stuff your face with noodles, potstickers, and something called the King Hawaiian Dog: a hot dog in a King's bun topped with bulgogi and mango pineapple salsa.
