Stacked dirty dishes
You did it. You conquered The Feast and all that implies. Perhaps you've already had your first leftover sandwich, as you ready yourself for what's next. Allow me to suggest that this extended weekend be packed with more friends, more merriment, and more gratitude for small foodist businesses, fried chicken, hot beverages enjoyed outdoors, and creating the light in the dark. Sally forth, friends.
>> Sum Dem Korean is open in south Minny if you are looking for something alt-turkey. Kimchi pancakes, bulgoki, jap chae, and nothing from Aunt Sally in Apple Valley with mini marshmallows.
>> Restaurant Alma reopens this weekend, though Cafe Alma has been open and drawing them in for a week or more. Be warned, reservations for this weekend already filled up pretty quick like, so call before you drag the family over.
>> Oh hey, Holidazzle is back! And this year it's got all the right treats, like Fulton’s Proper Porter, Sociable Cider Werks mulled apple cider, Kramarczuk sausages, K-Town Korean street food, pierogis, donuts, even cult favorite Walt’z Wings & BBQ. Kicks off today and lasts all holiday season long, through Christmas..
>> Also kicking off today is the Gingerbread Wonderland at Norway House. Head over with the kiddoes and check out the display of gingerbread replicas of iconic local buildings such as the State Capitol, Paisley Park, and US Bank Stadium. There are tons of kids activities and plenty of things to snack on.
>> Support Shop Local Saturday by shopping local and then getting yourself a bucket of chicken. On Saturday only, Smack Shack will be doing Shack Bird To-Go. For $30 customers get a whole bird (8 pieces of chicken), mashed potatoes, coleslaw and cornbread. Supplies are limited and when it’s gone, it’s gone. Plus, in honor of local shoppers, Smack Shack is offering 25% off all merchandise when purchased in person.
>> Then there's candy. Celebrate sweetly on Saturday with the grand reopening of Blue Sun Soda Shop in Spring Lake Park. This hot spot has over 1,200 kinds of soda pop, plus all the candies you can imagine. Show up on Saturday for FREE popcorn, a visit with Santa, plus other fun sugar-fueled shenanigans.
>> I'm sorry, but is there anything better than shopping with beer? On Sunday, the popular NE Brewery Bau Haus Brew Labs will host a Made-By-Hands Holiday and Craft Market at the taproom. Expect lots of local makers, beer, and food trucks with the DJ vibes.
>> Don't skip one of the best events to get you in the holiday spirit. Muddy Paws throws their annual Cheesecake Sampling and toy/pet food drive on Tuesday the 29th. Donate an unwrapped toy or a unopened bag of pet food and enjoy sassy tea, live music, a holiday craft bazaar, and upwards of 35 cheesecake flavors to sample. Win-win.
