>> Just in time for your sweetie's snacking, Mon Petit Cheri bakery is opening on Saturday. Already with a farmers' market following, this little shop opens in Seward (in the former Himalayan spot) with Dogwood coffee and cases full of cookies, pies, cakes, gallettes, what have you. They'll also serve breakfast, lunch, and brunch on weekends.
>> If you missed the Powerball, but still feel like pressing your luck, Treasure Island has a new steakhouse for you to either bask in your winnings or soothe your losses. Tado is now open, serving traditional steakhouse fare, plus tepannyaki dining.
>> Discerning conventioneers will now be able to sip in style at the new Craft Bar & Lounge, which features local craft beers and snacks (that have to be better than those nachos on the main floor). Comic Con just got kicked up a tich.
>> Red Cow is fully open in the North Loop. Its third location, the local burger joint has cranked up the cocktails at this location, due to new barman Ian Lowther. I recommend the Grandad's Sour, with a side of turkey burger.
>> I'm just going to say it: thank goodness Tacos, Nachos, and Beer is no more. Dirty and gross it was. In its spot, is now Afro Deli St. Paul, which is altogether more exciting and delicious. I have dug falafels and sambusas from the Minneapolis location, so give them a shot.
>> So Famous Dave's and Kokomo Island Grill will be closing on the third floor of the Mall of America. Though Ali Shops and the MOA say that new tenants will be announced soon, don't we already know that Kaskaid has confirmed they'll be opening two new spots there, in "side-by-side berths on the Mall's third floor?" Yup. This is where the new version of Figlio (reportedly being called Zia) will go, with its new burger concept next door. Look for a fall opening.
>> Tamarack Tap Room is coming to Woodbury, taking over the former Chammps spot in Tamarack Village. Now this isn't a brewery taproom, but a restaurant that will feature craft beer, bourbon, and burgers. The menu aims to use local ingredients and plans a farm-to-table approach. Under construction and hiring now, so look for an opening soon.
>> If you're planning on hunkering down for this chilly V-Day, you might want to slip over to the Mill City Winter Market from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday. Get your provisions to make a perfect meal for a cuddler, or perhaps just load up on the personal treat-yo-selfs from Salty Tart.
>> "Six short days. Nine enormous beers." And thus we launch Town Hall's Barrel Aged Week, starting Monday February 16. Get over to the brewery this week for some limited serious-level beers. You will not be disappointed.
>> Are you Best In Show, darlings? If you're a closet devotee of the Westminster Kennel Club show, or if you're out, head over to Betty Danger's Country Club on Tuesday, Feruary 17 for a little viewing party with panache. Dress the part, bring a stuffed pooch, win prizes, and throw down puppy-themed potables.
>> Plan ahead for this one, it's going to sell out. The Northern Lights Rare Beer Fest is on March 28, but tickets are on sale now. You couldn't find a better Valentine for your beer nerd than these tickets.
