Nice Ride bicycle
The Twin Cities beer scene just keeps getting better. And one of the best ways to drink up the local brew culture is by exploring these three different brewing districts via bicycle (yet another thing we've got plenty of).
For the Casual Rider: Nordeast Beer District
Pick up a Nice Ride bike at Logan Park off Broadway and head west along 13th Avenue to your starting point: Dangerous Man Brewing Co. (1300 NE 2nd St.). From there, go east on 15th Avenue to Indeed Brewing (711 15th Ave. NE), where you can soak up some patio time. After that, take 14th Avenue and cross Central to Tyler, where you'll hit up 612 Brew (945 NE Broadway St.) for some outdoor live music. Then head over to the new Bauhaus Brew Labs (1315 NE Tyler St.) to check out its industrial-chic green space, and then —if you're still game—try a cider graff at Sociable Cider Werks (1500 NE Fillmore St.).
For the Serious Pedaler: Western Suburbs
Start at Steel Toe Brewing (4848 W. 35th St., St. Louis Park), just off the Greenway bike path. Continue on to Hopkins and break in the new LTD Brewing (715 Main St., Ste. 5). Jump back on the Cedar Lake Trail and hoof it to Lucid Brewing (6020 Culligan Way), where you can taste samples from a few different breweries. The ambitious will pedal all the way out to Excelsior Brewing's new taproom (421 3rd St., Excelsior) before going out on the Dakota Rail Trail all the way to Enki Brewing (7929 Victoria Dr., Victoria). After all that, reward yourself with a burger at Floyd's (1758 Arboretum Blvd., Victoria).
For the All-Day Adventurer: St. Paul's River Road
Start where it all started for the local brew scene: Summit Brewing (910 Montreal Circle) just off Shepherd Road. Then head northeast, popping over to West 7th for Vine Park Brewing (1254 W. 7th St.), just to see if you have the stuff to jump in the brewing game. Get back on Shepherd for a lovely river ride downtown, aiming for the new Tin Whiskers taproom (125 E. 9th St.). After that, jump back on 7th to get you over to Swede Hollow, where Flat Earth (688 Minnehaha Ave. E.) has relocated. If you find yourself in need of a pork belly fortifier (who wouldn't?), The Strip Club (378 Maria Ave.) is across the green.
