I was in LA last week taping a segment for The Soup . K. P. Anderson, brother of KFAN’s Bumper to Bumper with Dan Barreiro's Joe Anderson, is one of the show’s producers. He and host Joel McHale both say "hi" to everyone here, especially all the folks they saw earlier this winter in Minneapolis. A few months ago, they played the State Theater and are sure to return later this year. I will keep you posted.
While I was gone, I missed Adam Platt’s debut as the Foodie File sacrificial lamb. I thought piling on was against the rules . . . I guess not? Did you see the beating he took for telling the truth about the soon-to-be-transformed Wagner’s on Highway 7? I guess the truth hurts, but don’t kill the messenger. Well, anyway, Wagner's will indeed be going Galactic, and now Campiello’s old site in Uptown turns into Cowboy Slim's. Have you driven by recently? As Molly Mogren posed to me in a recent e-mail, "Is this Minneapolis or Orlando?" Sad thought.
As depressing as that is, here are some things I am looking forward to this summer: tongue tacos and mini donuts, courtesy of Lisa and Carrie at Mill City Farmers Market; St. Paul Farmers' Market on the first warm day I am in town for; Saints baseball (I love the Twins, and my son and I had a blast at Sunday’s game, but give me grass and sunshine . . . we are all looking forward to April 2010!); grilling outside on the deck; planting the garden next week; Liberty Custard on a hot humid night . . . I got the summertime jones really bad.
