Uptown is getting some big attention. It's been buzzing on the street for a while about who would take the Figlio/Il Gatto space in Calhoun Square, and Voldy finally gave me the go-ahead to leak it. Primebar will be the newest addition to that hot corner. The resto is a national chain from the Restaurants-America group, which incidentally created the Bar Louie concept going into the still-rising Mozaic complex. Hmmmm. There's a Primebar in Chicago (plus TX, FL, and AZ) and the menu looks to be tavern-tastic with Sriracha deviled eggs, lobster mac & cheese, and a fried egg burger on a pretzel bun among other things. It bills itself as a contemporary ale house with "cool food, local brews, and great cocktails featuring a distinctly urban interior". The Chicago joint looks a little swank to me, can't wait to see what they do with the old girl (hopefully they'll scrub or gut that kitchen, oy).
