The Longfellow neighborhood is so HOT right now. It's no wonder a friend of mine is having a hard time finding a house there, the 'hood just keeps getting hotter and hotter.
And the heat factor just went up a bit with the addition of the open-today Sonora Grill, taking over the sad eye-sore that was once Molly Quinn's. The boys, whose other location is in the Midtown Global Market, cleaned the space up and now it's a modern feeling open space with a centralized kitchen, great wood accents, and a patio out front.
The menu has been extended from the bocadillos (sandwiches) and carmelos (tacos) found at the Market, to include larger platos with such tasty things as Mexican ceviche, Argentinian beef empanadas, ribs with roasted tomatillos, pancetta wrapped grilled prawn, and more.
Also added is a full bar, allowing beer and wine, plus a round of craft cocktails that play with tequila, smokey mezcal, fresh juices, and spice. The Adelita has a fruity cinnamon tequila kick that is a whole new vision of the holiday drink.
For the first few weeks, the place will be open for dinner only with lunch service coming probably after the holidays. They do take reservations, but leave a long communal table and the bar open for walk-ins.
