As if we didn't have enough to gab about this weekend. Every restaurant in which I ate, every fellow food geek was achatter about all the chef changes around town, what with McKee at the Guthrie then Brown and P & F parting ways.
So now I can tell you that J. P. Samuelson is headed to Solera. When jP American Bistro closed, J. P. landed at Nick & Eddie, and there was much rejoicing. He was working their bar menu to delicious heights, according to most of my foodie pals.
But apparently, bigger plans were being made. McKee and Thoma have asked J. P. to head up the kitchen at Solera and are looking forward to seeing the new heights he can achieve. I can't tell you how happy I am that these guys aren't just leaving the Spanish restaurant to gather dust while they focus their efforts on St. Paul's Barrio, the Guthrie, and elsewhere.
Is this the emergence of the Twin Cities' next great restaurant company?
