If you haven’t heard, there’s a ballpark headed for Lowertown.
Now you may wonder where you’re going to go before a Saints game when the new park opens, and perhaps you haven’t been thinking of Heartland . . . but you will.
Lenny Russo has unleashed a new ballpark friendly bar menu at Heartland, the local-loving restaurant right across from the St. Paul Farmers' Market and within spittin’ distance of the new stadium. Russo decided now was the time to do it, so they could find the favorites and work out the kinks by the time the gates open.
“In addition, it is sometimes like Noah's Ark around here with all of the whole animals that find their way into our meat locker with the exception, of course, that they are dead. That not only makes them easier to care for, but it also affords us the opportunity to dissect them without being bitten or gored.” Classic Russo, in an e-mail.
Basically this is going to allow them to use all the ground meat they have from their in-house butchery and according to Russo, “The fact of the matter is that we can make only so much sausage before things start getting out of hand. At last count we had over 400 pounds of various types of sausages in our freezer. That's more than 2,000 sausages, and that doesn't include all of the pate and terrines we have.”
You know what that means: Burger Time. High quality freshly ground burger time.
“We crafted a new bar menu that is the sum of the winners culled from our trial bar menu as well as four different burgers crafted from the freshly ground meat of heritage breed livestock.”
