Duke it up, people. This Friday night there'll be a scuffle, a tussle, and some ballyhoo. It's Fair Food Fight Night.
Barth Anderson is the man behind the Lucha Libre mask asking you, "What do YOU believe?" During his Fair Food Fight sessions, one controversial food topic is discussed from differing points of view. For instance, when the topic was animal antibiotics, they had Superbug guru Maryn McKenna face off against the MN Farmers Union. Far from a preachy brow-beating session, after much discussion (You are weakening the population with antibiotics/If I don't give them medicine, my cows will die) the audience is left to decide for themselves.
Well, Friday's event promises to be a bit more, spicy. The boys from Fulton Beer will be pouring libations, DJ Danny Sigleman will be spinning tunes, and Corner Table, Modern Cafe, The Magic Bus, among others, will be dealing out nosh (bring cash).
In the ring, discussing ethically raised meat and animal welfare, will be Todd Churchill from Thousand Hills, a representative for Mercy for Animals, Arion Thiboumery of Lorentz Meats, and Yours Truly as moderator general. I'll keep things civil and intellectual as I can (Don't make me pull out the pink boa and go all Jesse Ventura on you).
So come down and open your mind, have a beer, and learn a little about what you think you believe.
