This Fresh Forkin' Friday celebrates service and training! The following conversation took place at one of our new establishments this last week:
Me: Do you know if this is made with any flour besides chickpea flour, my friend is allergic to wheat.
S: Let me go ask the kitchen. ... goes to kitchen ... I guess it has some flour in it, but it’s white, so she should be ok.
Me: Actually, white flour is made from wheat.
S: Oh, really? Since when?
Since the dawn of recoded history. Since the Egyptians. Since forever. Enjoy.
Wakame Sushi & Asian Bistro is open in the old Three Fish location. They have sushi and other multicultural Asian fare, plus they’ll be doing a late-night happy hour that lasts until midnight!
Sauce Spirits and Soundbar is open in the old La Bodega space. It seems to me that this is more of a music bar with food than an actual restaurant, their website only scantly mentions that they have appetizers and entrees. Even so, it’ll be nice to have a lively corner at Lyn-Lake again.
Of course you heard that Sea Change opened, didn’t you?
CLOSINGS include finally, yes, Bellanotte. And little Gusto out in Hopkins closed as well. It was a good run Chuck!
Rub elbows with Top Cheftestant Radika Desai and local boy wonder Tim McKee as they sign books and cook snacks at the Aquatennial on Saturday during Riverblast.
What’s the Best Fest this weekend? Well, it’s either wrangling Polish pastry or pulling a Violet Beauregard.
Emily Noble is eating 90 Salads in 90 Days . . . and she’s doing it in style.
The farm life is calling you, isn’t it? With all this talk of sustainable agriculture you want to do a little dirt nurturing yourself, no? This Saturday, you can put in your time with the gang from Common Roots as they weed the onion field at Riverbend Farm out Delano way. Doing the work will earn you a honest lunch and tour of the farm.
If you’re thinking about the next generation, Peterson Produce has the Fun Farm Crew, where you and your young can put in some hours on the farm and do a little learning outside-the-mac-n’-cheese-box. After an hour of work, the kids earn a $2 coupon they can use at the farm stand.
