Where will you find yourself this Fresh Forkin' Friday at 10 p.m.? Will you be lolling on the couch after a fine meal made by a loved one? Will you be sloshing back beers from a boot with your mensch? Or will you be, like the in-the-know-food-set, rocketing to Corner Table for some free burgers? Every Friday night the Pampuch pulls off 10@10, in which he cooks 10 snacky burgers to be given away free to the first 10 people who claim them. Marched out on a long board with pomp and circumstance, burgers such as the veggie-lucy (a black bean burger stuffed with goat cheese) and a version of a school lunch pizza burger, are snapped up by waiting fans. There's been no reported pushing or shoving, this is the Minny after all. If you head down tonight, there'll definitely be homage to Ben Weaver in the form of a veal burger with mirepoix jam. Get it, before he does.
The Linden Hills Co-op has opened in their bright shiny new location!
Rice Paper has reopened in new digs in the 50th & France neighborhood. The Asian-fusiony menu has been expanded and even includes a pretty big selection of gluten/dairy-free items. Plus, there's a tea time menu for those lovely hours from 2-4 p.m. Ahh, to have a teatime on the calendar.
Pop!! has closed for good it seems. Clark and Leslie Knutson have sold their Nordeast location and shuttered the St. Paul site.
Rachel dug into the closing of the Boxcar in Prescott.
Don Saunders, of the defunct Fugaise, will make another run at it with the opening of his new restaurant, In Season. Yep, we're talking seasonal and local and fresh and stuff. The new resto will take over the Armatage Room space across from and formerly run by Cafe Maude. It's a small one, maybe 40 seats, which will get some cosmetic fluffing. Look for the debut sometime in November.
It may be one of the pricier benefits, but I know all of you would spend your sickles on worthy food adventures; that's just how we roll. So if you haven't considered Sunday night's Taste of the Nation event, you really should. It's an amazing chance to sit with some of the TC's coolest foodies and have your meal prepared TABLESIDE by our towns' top chefs. Seriously, you could be sitting with Lenny and get all his food and political views at once! Make Flicker give you his dissertation on caul fat and all its wonders. Get Sameh talking and he'll never stop.
Booyah people, Shefzilla The Book is now in stock! Order your copy while they're still sizzlin' from the fryer.
