Well, you never made that once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to El Bulli before it closed, did you? Sad. And yet.
The iconic, ground breaking, mold shattering, Ferran Adria fueled restaurant/lab can still be enjoyed and experienced (sans actual eating) through the magic of film. St. Anthony Main theaters, in conjunction with The Film Society of Minneapolis/St. Paul, is hosting the acclaimed El Bulli: Cooking in Progress September 23rd through the 29th.
The film focuses on the six months a year when El Bulli would close while the chefs would meticulously work to create and discover new ways of presenting food. It is nothing short of a glimpse inside the process of culinary evolution. Even if you aren't interested in eating foams and gelees and spherical beef, would rather tuck into a fat BLT, this is a fascinating journey to watch.
The good news is that you will be hungry after seeing this, and The Aster is just steps away.
