The former California Pizza Kitchen space in Rosedale is under construction and will open at the end of the month as Digby’s, an independent, craft beer-focused burger and pizza joint. And here comes the awkward: This is the second restaurant for Michael Larson and team, which opened Eat Shop in Plymouth. And yeah, that’s who I’m married to.
Digby’s will take some of the good stuff from Eat Shop (beer dinners, beer club, fresh burgers, house made sausage and meats), but there will be a different menu, and because there’s a bright yellow oven left over from the CPK days, chef Jeff Anderson will be adding some pizzas to the list (he’s toying with a dough that uses Lucid’s brewing yeast). There’s a sassy food and beer mural along one wall that was painted by local artist Adam Turman, there are design touches from the kids at Locus Architecture (who did Sandcastle and are working on the Birchwood project), there will be garage doors opening the front side to the sidewalk, and yeah, it’s a non-chain burger-pizza-beer-bar down the block from a movie theater in a mall.
