It's spring and if your fancy turns to thoughts of peanuts and cracker jack, you might be a baseball fan. In the car ride to the ballpark for our first game every year, the chatter turns from "Will Joe still have those sideburns?" to " Do you think I should go nachos before hot dog? Or vice versa?" This thing is as big as Emily Engberg's head. Inspired by Valentini's Supper Club on the Iron Range, this sucker rocked. The giant meatball that we tried was super zingy with sausage in the mix and stuffed with a glob of cheese. The sauce was tangy and awesome. I am planning an entire meatball and beer inning. Baked Potato Bar Taters? What's taters, precious? Again erring on the side of huge, these spuds would take an inning or more to eat. Pile it with broccoli and cheese sauce or bacon and sour cream, or go for the giant yam topped with maple butter. Pickle Chips The hot snack of the moment, fried pickle chips from the Fair's Preferred Pickle served with a little ranch dipper. Crunchy and salty. Garlic Fries These were herby and addictive, but all I could think about was how the seventh inning stretch might be a bit more odiferous if you'd been indulging in these. Maybe no Kiss Cam for you, but you've got your fries, what else do you need? Buffalo Mac & Cheese From The Food Network, it was your basic cavatelli noodle mac with cheese, Buffalo chicken, and blue cheese breadcrumbs on top. I'm going to have to hit mine with a bit more spice. Bacon Sloppy Joe Also from The Food Network, there's bacon in the beefy mess which was even better when you snuck some fritos under the bun. LeeAnn Chin Stir Fry Fat noodles with chicken and veg in a sweet and spicy sauce. This might be a good choice on those chillier, windy days.
