Warm weather makes me crave green grass and margaritas. Now we can look forward to both together, with a little side of baseball.
Target Field has formed a partnership with the kids at Barrio to construct a new bar smack dab in Twins Territory. The new addition is being constructed in left field, just inside of Gate 6 (if you need to check your seat map).
The top of the bar will be encircled by a 420-square-foot video display so that you can keep track of all the action. The hang space will include standing drink rails facing the field, high-top tables, and some loungey "cabana-style" seating which will no doubt become coveted spots. They've thoughtfully included radiant heaters above the space to account for the un-margarita-like weather that happens here from time to time.
Barrio will stay on track offering the Latin American bites for which they've become known, pork carnitas tacos, spicy habanero chicken tamal, and the Cubano sandwich come to mind. And then there are the margs: I'd be quite fine shouting for PLOUFFE with a little cherry lime Cobra Verde in my hand, or toasting Molitor's decisions with a blood orange Macho Comacho, because I'm an opptomist dammit.
And here's a little treat, Friday nights Barrio will open early for home games. From 4:30-5:30 p.m. ticket holders can enjoy exclusive drink specials. And during Thirsty Thursday nights, the bar will run happy hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with $2 drafts and rail drinks, plus app specials.
Home opener is Monday, April 13 and tickets and margaritas are still available. Go spring!
