Eat & Tell: Where Can I Go That Offers Kids Appetizers?
Q: Why don’t places offer kids appetizers? If we’re out with extended family, the kids don’t seem to get their food until the main meal and by that time they are insanely starving!
A: I would argue that there are usually some pretty kid-friendly appetizers on many menus, ordering a flat-bread or some sliders usually does the trick in my opinion. But I do hear you, when the nuggets are small and won’t go in for a fussy bread basket, you just want something. The Highland Grill (and most of the other Blue Plate Group) understands that and will hand you a pack of Goldfish crackers right when you sit down. The newish Lynn on Bryant actually has a kids appetizer course, served in a muffin tin: ants on a log, diced cheese, chicken lollipops. And you could order some kids sushi from Crave to tide them over, a cucumber or avocado roll is fun to eat or tear apart and examine.
