City Lunch: Real Meal Deli
Skyway Accessible: Yes, skyway level.
In/Out: Counter service, some seating at some locations
Deets: Real Meal Deli has recently opened a new spot on the Northern side of skyway-town in the Tritech building just beyond the Hotel Minneapolis. It also has a location in St. Paul and one other counter spot in Minneapolis, but this new one is spacious with a lot of seating.
The food at Real Meal aims to be a stitch above some of the other soup-sandwich shops in the habitrail in that the focus is freshly-made food. I had a cobb salad with grilled chicken: the size was generous and there was so much blue cheese and chicken that I nearly tipped my chair (many places skimp on these it seems). But more so, the chicken tasted like chicken, and not some rubbery saline-injected bit of pencil eraser. Butternut curry soup is a winter warmer and sandwiches have been just as generous and made with good ingredients. The selection of breakfast sammies (whole grain breakfast burritos!) looks great, but ends at 10 a.m., which kills me because I could eat breakfast for lunch every day.
