Lift Bridge Silhouette Imperial Stout
The real March Madness is how much Guinness is consumed on St. Paddy’s Day: 13 million pints. Why not give your local brewers a share of that love by pouring at least a pint of one of these Minnesota stouts?
SUMMIT OATMEAL STOUT
Smooth and sweet, this one is brewed with naked oats from the U.K. It’s sold only on nitro taps at select locations. Find it on tap at Dan Kelly’s Pub.
DANGEROUS MAN CHOCOLATE MILK STOUT
This beer has become legendary to drinkers of the dark. Only available at the taproom, this stout has a roasty-toasty aroma and a rich and creamy nature. Get a growler and save it, then savor it.
BRAU BROTHERS MOOJOOS
Bottles of this winning beer are available all year. This oatmeal milk stout has a lot of subtle complexities from a variety of roasted malts, and the addition of locally sourced milk and sugar delivers that softly sweet punch.
THIRD STREET BREWHOUSE SUGAR SHACK
A truly Minnesota original, this maple stout was brewed with syrup harvested from the maple trees at Saint John’s Abbey near St. Cloud. The result is a full-bodied stout with hoppy notes to balance out the rich sweetness. This is usually only available through February, so grab a sixer if you see one.
LIFT BRIDGE SILHOUETTE IMPERIAL STOUT
A stronger stout, in the Russian Imperial tradition, it’s aged in bourbon barrels. The bottles are limited-edition, but the brewers will blend Silhouette with milk stout for an Irish Coffee Stout to be released on March 7.
