Art you can borrow for free—so long as you bring it back by the due date. That’s the basic (and totally genius) logic behind the Minneapolis Art Lending Library, a collection of 60-and-counting framed original artworks ready to find a temporary home on your wall, almost all of which are made by local artists. Which makes us happy to donate the suggested $5, though there's no pressure to give from the volunteers when you're picking one out.
Fall in love? The reverse side of every piece includes contact information for its artist so you can arrange a permanent stay. Not crazy about it? Turn it in at the prescribed time and try a different one at the next open borrowing session. Why didn’t we think of that?
