Fondue, Singapore slings, and “Here’s Johnny” might be memories of the 1970s, but one throwback is likely making a comeback: the dinner party. Jason Matheson, host of KMSP FOX 9’s The Jason Show and myTalk FM107.1’s The Jason & Alexis Show, held a dinner party at his North Loop condo that included the skilled hands of chef, author, and host of the Emmy award–winning documentary Asian Flavors, Raghavan Iyer. Nine guests plus myself enjoyed an Indian-inspired evening with multiple courses, including appetizers, a signature cocktail—the Rose Kennedy (vodka, soda, cranberry, and a lemon)—and an amazing dinner prepared by chef Iyer. After dinner, WCCO anchor Frank Vascellaro lead an icebreaker—each guest shared their first concert experience. WCCO anchor Amelia Santaniello’s first concert was Journey at the Meadowlands Arena in New Jersey, Vascellaro was escorted by his sister for a Linda Ronstadt “Blue Bayou” moment at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and Matheson was voguing in Chicago to the sounds of the “Material Girl” herself his sophomore year of high school.
In another area of Minneapolis, Anne Cashill, SVP of Skagen Fossil Watches, held a dinner party that lifestyle trendsetter Martha Stewart and fashionista Anna Wintour would approve. Perhaps after years of living between New York and Minnesota, this fashion maven has been exposed to the finest, bringing East Coast style to Minneapolis. Cashill and husband Jose Vido, owner of Morning Star Coffee, regularly entertain in their classic Lake Harriet home. The duo always ensure that the butler-passed apéritifs, canapés, and spirits are just as interesting as their guests. Speaking of guests, the list included the always-delightful KARE 11 news anchor Julie Nelson, photography team of Margo and Steve Henke, and retail power couple Christine Ward and Rick Haase of Patina shops.
See you on the scene!
