The Pride Behind Pride

Do you remember The Dugout? The Noble Roman? A Woman’s Coffeehouse? A Brother’s Touch? Long before Queer Eye and RuPaul’s Drag Race, LGBTQ people built a rich—and often hidden—culture in the Twin Cities. A glorious (sometimes glamorous) world of bars and bookstores, hookup spots and health centers. Many of these places have disappeared—but not from memory. This June, when we think about Pride, here are the places and people we’re proud of.
