Who: Some of the Twin Cities' most powerful, intelligent, and stylish women
What: WomenVenture's inaugural StyleVenture
Where: The Westin Edina Galleria
When: Wednesday, June 3
Why: To network, shop, sip wine, see some great fashions, and celebrate a TC institution that has been empowering women for more than 30 years.
If there was any doubt that WomenVenture=Success (which, of course, there wasn't), those doubts were wiped out last night as the organization hosted its first StyleVenture, a night of fashion, food, and, of course, networking. The ballroom at the Westin Galleria was packed with more than 200 powerful women of all ages, all there to meet one another and create great business opportunities--and maybe even a friendship or two. I was blown away by the women I met: Tracy Dyer of Urban Junket, il Vostro Boutique's Stacey Finnegan, Colleen Kruse from FM107, Susan Brunn and Susan Jacobs of Casa Verde, the list goes on. Plus I spotted a few familiar faces: LolaRed PR's Alexis Walsko, WomenVenture president Tené Wells, MSP Communications's Deb Hopp with her daughter Deven, Maggie Brennan, Natasha Freimark, and Kirsten Johnson. I even met an up-and-coming wedding photographer, Ginger Murray, who will be shooting a colleague's wedding, small world! It was a powerful--and stylish--room to be sure. And everyone had the chance to meet and mingle--in between trips to the wine and gift card walls, stops at shopping stations, and a quick massage--before the fashion show (hosted by Mpls.St.Paul style editor Melissa Colgan) started. At the end of the show, Tené (who also modeled, check out the slide show!) promised this would be an annual event. We're going to hold her to that promise!
