Who: Local VIPs and the art crowd
What: Walker Art Center’s Avant Garden
Where: Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
When: September 8, 2012
Why: To support artistic and educational programs at the Walker
Spotted: There were lots of big names at this benefit, from R.T. Rybak, to Andrew Dayton, to news anchors Frank Vascellaro and Amelia Santaniello.
The Scene: Guests strutted into the sold-out party on a green carpet, which led to black-and-white tents connected by a chevron-patterned dance floor. While the dancing was slow to start, DJs Paper Tiger, Soviet Panda, Dirty Talk, Mike 2600, and Danny Sigelman got everyone grooving by the end of the night.
Kudos: Instead of tacky nametags, guests donned gold and silver keys around their necks. While the $500 gold-key ticket was pricey, it got you an open bar all night—plus a swanky seafood spread with all kinds of caviar. And the $100-silver key ticket allowed 20- and 30-somethings to invade the party later in the night.
