What: Taste of Art
Where: Doubletree Hotel Minneapolis-Park Place, St. Louis Park
When: Sunday, June 13, 2010
Why: To get a taste of great artwork and food, all to benefit for Partnership Resources, Inc.
Artists and chefs created a canvas of smiles and satiated appetites at the 2nd annual Taste of Art, a fundraiser for Partnership Resources, Inc. (PRI) at the Doubletree Hotel Minneapolis-Park Place in St. Louis Park. PRI, founded in 1960, provides services and community programs for developmentally disabled adults.
The room we first arrived in was a gallery of incredible artwork created by PRI’s clients, all on display for the silent auction. We saw amazing drawings and paintings of bears, horses, Joe Mauer, Hulk Hogan, and flowers, as well as more modern pieces of entrancing shapes and colors.
Soon we found our way to the main ballroom, where bluegrass band Moss Piglet jammed while more than 400 attendees got to sample culinary delights from food stations manned by chefs from the Minneapolis Chapter of The American Culinary Federation.
We had to stop by to taste succulent sausage with horseradish sauce prepared by chef John Schumacher, who talked up his newly refashioned Schumachers Hotel and Grill 212 in New Prague. Certainly sounds a like a fun drive one of these summer days.
The live auction, emceed by WCCO-TV’s Jason DeRusha, kicked off later, which included several packages of multi-course dinners hosted by several of the charming chefs who cooked at Taste of Art, including Schumacher, Paul Booth of Taher, Inc., Angelo Montes of Chianti Grill and Ciatti’s, and Rino Baglio of Pazzaluna.
The evening ended on a sweet note: PRI’s Dan Reed says this year’s benefit exceeded last year’s fundraising efforts due to the incredible response of the organization’s supporters—great, sounds like we’ll see you next year at the 3rd annual Taste of Art!
