Who: Male eye candy with big hearts
What: One Man Minneapolis
Where: Pantages Theatre
When: July 18, 2009
Why: To check out male eye candy with big hearts
I have to admit I was a little skeptical about this whole One Man Minneapolis thing. When people asked what I was doing that weekend my answer was a slightly snarky--"Going to Ms. Minnesota for dudes." Not like men, especially men who have good careers and contribute to their community, don't deserve a little love--and $5,000 and a Tag Heuer watch courtesy JB Hudson--but the whole thing seemed a little hokey.
I was wrong. Most of the 20 finalists were the kind of guy your mom really hopes you bring home to dinner. Good jobs, good hearts, and good wives, girlfriends, and partners who cared enough to nominate them! And the show was actually pretty fun. It was helmed by hosts and local actresses Stacia Rice and Christina Clark, with music from the always entertaining Erin Schwab, and appearances by the cast of Theatre Latte Da's upcoming The Full Monty and everyone's favorite weekend weather guy Sven Sundgaard.
The 20 finalists were quickly whittled down to top 5, who were put in the hot seat twice--via a Q & A and a trivia round. Check out the pictures for a taste of the action, which led to the crowning of One Man Minneapolis, Mark Klukow, a 38-year-old Minneapolis cop and father of three sons who just happened to be a dead-ringer for Entourage's Kevin Connelly. We're not sure if this is going to be an annual event, but count us in!
