Who: Maidens and the women who love what they make
What: Maiden Minnesota, an annual shopping party and benefit
Where: The Graves | 601 Hotel
When: November 4, 2010
Why: To showcase the products from Minnesota-based artists, designers, and artisan women, while raising funds for Free Arts Minnesota.
Maiden Minnesota attracted almost 1,400 gals (OK, there were a few guys too) to shop and sip cocktails at The Graves | 601 Hotel, while raising more than $14,000 for Free Arts Minnesota, which provides art programs to abused, neglected, and at-risk children.
The stars of the night were the “maidens,” who give you perspective of how many talented women designers, artists, and craftswomen we have right in our own backyard. Shoppers who hopped from booth to booth got to meet the women who actually create the one-of-a-kind jewelry, hats, handbags, organizers, lingerie, candles, baby clothes, and more—locavore shopping at its best.
If you’re melting down on your shopping quotas about this time of year, why not support local art and artists while you’re at it? Sounds like a match maiden heaven to us.
