Another weekend, another benefit, right? Well not when that benefit is the first (and, hopefully, annual) Dusk 'til Dawn fundraisers for Heading Home Hennepin. The two-part event started at 7 p.m. with a special guest appearance by comedian Louie Anderson, gourmet food by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and an auction of all the suites at the Chambers hotel.
The evening then moved from the lovely courtyard to the Red, White & F***ing Blue Bar on the Chambers's fifth floor. Upstairs, the tone turned a bit more playful as the crowd turned ever more tipsy, but the notion of giving stayed in the air with a late-night date auction. Each auctioned date included a trifecta of either men or women, and in the ultimate show of Minnesota modesty, the well-dressed men and the smart-looking women fetched more dough than the gold diggers or blond "babes".
All in all, the event raised thousands of dollars for Heading Home Hennepin's fight to end homelessness.
