Who: Models, fashion lovers, dancers, tastemakers, and dolls
What: Fashion Ball 2011: A Supermodel’s Adventure
Where: Ritz Theater
When: April 15, 2011
Why: To fund-raise for Ballet of the Dolls and check out some of the hot fashions from local designers and boutiques.
I. Love. Fashion. Plus, I’m a former dancer. So naturally I jumped at the chance to attend this mini-Glamorama event featuring a few of my favorite things: fashion, dance, local retailers, and more. All of which was to benefit The Ballet of the Dolls.
The Friday night gala started out with mingling, browsing and bidding on silent auction items, sipping cocktails, and sampling appetizers. The lobby of the Ritz Theater was packed with party people, all gearing up for the dance performances and runway shows.
After some good mingling, we made our way into the theater so the show could begin. Styled and designed by Grant Whittaker and choreographed by Myron Johnson, the show started with high-energy performances by The Dolls and ready to wear runway shows soon followed with fashions from Grethen House and Bluepeg Mens, and jewelry designs by Ann Lambrecht and Stephanie Lake.
The performances had us dancing in our seats and excited for the meet and greet during intermission. We took the 30-minute break to meet the designers and creative people behind the fashions we saw on stage, and grab another cocktail while making final bids on silent auction items.
More lively dance numbers made up Act 2 along with one last ready to wear show and the finale: Bridal Couture by Joyno
