Who: Business leaders, members of the community, and friends of the Northern Star Council
What: Second-Annual Boy Scout Lawn Social
Where: The Popp Residence on Lake Minnetonka
When: July 18, 2012
Why: For friends to mingle, network, and show their support for the Northern Star Council and Boy Scouts of America
The scene: Stormy, gray skies over Lake Minnetonka provided a dramatic backdrop for this year's gathering. Bright flower centerpieces and smartly-dressed guests made for a colorful evening, despite the foreboding forecast.
Dress code: Minnesotans donned their summer best for an evening by the lake. Ladies wore colorful, patterned dresses, and gents were in striped dress shirts. My best-dressed pick was Ingrid Christensen, who wore an adorable yellow and white ikat printed dress, accented with wedges and her hair pulled back in a simple, low bun. I love her easy, breezy style, perfect for summer soirées like this one.
Memorable moment: Meteorologist Paul Douglas cracked a weather joke as he accepted a gift: “I just checked the radar and we’re safe—for the next five minutes.”
Eats: Party fare was catered by Mintáhoe, with an elegant yet simple appetizer spread of fresh fruit, vegetables, and my personal favorite—mini pulled pork sandwiches.
