Moviegoers at Cottage View Drive-in
Summer in Minnesota isn't complete without taking in a movie under the stars. But you still need to decide where—and how you plan on getting there.
If taking a break from your nighttime ride with a movie under the trees at various Minneapolis public parks isn't reason enough to put the pedal to the metal, consider this: This year, the city's Movies in the Park series has partnered with the Minneapolis-St. Paul Film Society to add some local flavor (and the opportunity to meet some of the producers) to the schedule.
Take a break from your kid's Frozen phase and pile the whole fam into a boat for a different kind of fun. Every Tuesday at dusk, seafarers can head to the St. Croix River for boat-in movies at Stillwater's new amphitheater in Lowell Park. The Lorax and Toy Story are two of the first flicks to hit the screen.
Channel your inner Danny Zuko and Sandra Dee for an old-school drive-in movie at Vali-Hi in Lake Elmo. The movies may be current, but the vibe is old school. 11260 Hudson Blvd. N., Lake Elmo, 651-436-7464
If you prefer your outdoor cinema with a side of sangria and croquettes, head up to Solera's rooftop and snag a seat. Movies are offered every Sunday and Tuesday throughout the summer. 900 Hennepin Ave., Mpls., 612-338-0062
