For the second annual “Make Room” collaboration at the American Craft Council Show in St. Paul, organizers asked 10 local designers and retailers to create a room vignette inspired by objects of fine craft that are well suited for entertaining. Mike Smith, owner of Forage Modern Workshop, based his room on a “hipster foodie brunch at a cool apartment,” where guests would inevitably perch on stools handmade in Minnesota by Solid Manufacturing Company and eat quiche on minimalist white plates by local ceramicist Brittany Pool. “I’m just a punk kid,” says Smith, 35. “If I can help introduce new, younger makers to ACC, that’s great.” The ACC Show is April 11–13 at the St. Paul RiverCentre. craftcouncil.org
