You'll find out on February 18, 2012, when Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship opens at the Science Museum of Minnesota. View Event

After World War II and the death of Stalin in 1953, the ideological restrictions imposed on Soviet artists were gradually relaxed, and, as Soviet society transformed, so did the work of its artists. This show features 55 remarkable works by some of Russia’s most famous 20th-century artists, much of it inspired by the country’s rapid industrialization after WWII. Images of hydroelectric power plants, factories and railroads are juxtaposed with images of individual laborers, expanding the range and skill of artists and their contribution to socialist enterprise. In an exhibit that's likely to infuriate many, the Walker is featuring the work of artists who reproduce or recontextualize everyday objects—a pencil, eraser, weeds, trash bags, chairs, etc.—and call the result "art." View Event

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Minneapolis College of Art & Design invited current MCAD students to submit proposals to MCAD@MIA, a unique opportunity for MCAD students to create a site-specific art installation at the MIA. The goal of this juried collaboration is to encourage art students to create new work that responds to the architecture, space, and/or diverse collections of the museum. View Event

View the first official printing of the U.S. Constitution dated 1787 and the House version of what would become the Bill of Rights, dated 1789. View Event

In addition to displaying the first official copies of the Constitution, the Minnesota History Center’s latest exhibit features a working draft of the Bill of Rights and two different versions of the Minnesota constitution. View Event

Michael Crouser is an old-school photographer who shoots with Tri-X film and develops it himself. This retrospective covers 25 years and includes work from four different series: Los Toros , Mountain Ranch, Sin Tiempo, and Dog Run. Los Toros was a fifteen-year exploration of bullfighting, and Dog Run is a series on dog parks, some of which was shot in Minneapolis. View Event

The third installment of this historic series features costumes that Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo created for Merce Cunningham’s 1997 dance Scenario.
