More Real? Art in the Age of Truthiness

Event Date: Thursday, March 21, 2013 - Sunday, June 09, 2013

Cost: $12/week, $14/weekend | Buy Tickets

In the MIA's first major contemporary art exhibit, 28 international artists explore the concept of "truth" and how it plays out in politics, the media, religion, education, and more. "The artists I've chosen for this show all have a moral compass," curator Elizabeth Armstrong says. "They're setting out in their artwork to comment on these issues in ways that raise real questions and concerns." Installation examples include Phantom Truck which represents a fake threat that started a real war, and Curator's Officewhich challenges the authenticity of period rooms at museums. The opening night is free as part of the Third Thursday programming; then exhibit tickets will be $12 during the week and $14 during the weekends.
