"Venus in Fur" at The Jungle Theater

They are two of the most compelling actors in the local theater scene, so it’s exciting to see Anna Sundberg and Peter Hansen combining their chemistry onstage, at The Jungle Theater no less. Even more enticing is the play that brings them together, Venus in Fur, David Ives’s clever exploration of sexual power and control inspired by the 19th century erotic novel Venus in Furs, a virtual handbook on sexual domination and masochism. Hansen plays a director casting a play based on the novel, and Sundberg plays an actress whose audition parallels the erotic power games in the book, a role that netted Nina Arianda the 2012 Tony Award for Best Actress.
