A Pop of Sweden
Minnesota isn’t usually the first place a European brand targets for U.S. expansion. But for major Swedish children’s retailer Polarn O. Pyret, aka PO.P, we were an obvious choice. Even before opening this fall at the Galleria in Edina, PO.P had an enthusiastic customer base here—Minnesota is one of the company’s top markets for online sales. From striped basics to performance outerwear in bright colors, the brand’s practical but modern vibe is our vibe. In town for the store opening, PO.P U.S. president Jennifer Athanason felt right at home when she turned on the local news in her hotel room—you won’t find a meteorologist named Sven in Chicago or Miami! Make it Marimekko
The Helsinki-based brand that’s known around the world started in 1951 and is still going strong with new stores, ad campaigns, and clever partnerships—most recently with Converse. From fashion to home, Marimekko never goes out of style—especially in colder climates where the punchy colors and patterns really liven up rooms. Here, FinnStyle is one of the nation’s largest retailers for Marimekko and Finnish design, shipping more than 50 to 100 online orders a day. In-store customers get the advantage of interacting with the expert Finnish-speaking staff. 160 Glenwood Ave., Mpls., 612-333-2127
