Honey, Honey

Doing the right thing has never tasted so sweet.

In 2011 Food Safety News examined big-box and drugstore honey and discovered it isn’t officially honey; it’s pasteurized de-pollinated junk from China that can’t technically be called honey at all. So don’t buy generic big-box-store honey; support local beekeepers by buying great, real local honey. A few of our faves:

1. Sapsucker Farms (sapsuckerfarms.com)
Available directly from the farm.

2. Bare Honey (barehoney.com)
Widely available at farmers' markets, grocers, and co-ops.

3. Johnston Honey (johnstonhoney.com)
Widely available at farmers' markets, grocers, and co-ops.

4. Ames Farm (amesfarm.com)
Widely available at farmers' markets, grocers, and co-ops.

5. Minnetonka Gold (minnetonkagold.com)
Available at Lakewinds Natural Foods stores in Minnetonka and Chanhassen and Harvest Moon Natural Foods in Long Lake. ■
