Can people who aren’t flexible or not in great shape do yoga?
Yes. Yoga focuses on the breath, as well as the body and mind–so if you can breathe, you can do yoga! Our Absolute Beginner Classes
are designed specifically for students who have never tried yoga. Class sizes are kept small, allowing Yoga Center instructors to provide individual attention to each student. At the end of the four-week series, students meet with their instructor one-on-one to review personal goals and determine which type of yoga class to take next.
Can someone who is overweight do yoga?
Of course! Yoga isn’t just for the slim and trim. It’s an equal-opportunity practice. One of Yoga Center’s most popular classes is called Big A#%! Yoga. This fun, inspiring class is for men and women who are living large. Instructors adapt traditional yoga postures to accommodate their students’ body types, making flexibility, balance, strength, and stress reduction accessible to every body, and every size.
Is yoga a fad?
Some types of yoga can be trendy, but at Yoga Center, we focus on the true practice of yoga. After all, we feel a 6,000-year tradition can’t be wrong. The healing benefits of yoga have stood the test of time, supporting our belief in this ancient practice and its benefits for the modern world. We offer a wide range of classes for all ages and levels, and our highly experienced instructors provide personal attention to every participant in class.
I have never tried yoga. How can I be sure I do it correctly?
We have the best trained, most experienced instructors in town. They are experts at teaching the art of calming the mind and body, leaving students relaxed, restored and renewed. We also keep our class sizes small, so instructors can guide students through their poses and ensure they are practicing safely and correctly. With two studios in St. Louis Park and the warehouse district of Minneapolis, we accommodate a diverse group of yogis, from beginners to the most advanced.
